However, traditional feeding practices in fishpond operations were often performed manually, resulting in irregular feeding schedules, inaccurate feed quantities, and increased labor costs. These inefficiencies adversely affected fish growth and overall productivity. To address these challenges, this study developed an Arduino-based automatic fish feeder system designed to dispense feed at scheduled intervals and in controlled amounts. The system integrated an Arduino microcontroller, a motorized dispensing mechanism, and a hopper storage unit to ensure consistent and accurate feeding, thereby reducing human error and feed wastage. The study employed a design-and-development research approach, which included system design, prototyping, and performance evaluation. The developed system was tested in terms of accuracy, reliability, and ease of operation and was compared with conventional manual feeding practices. The results revealed that the Arduino-based automatic fish feeder significantly improved feeding efficiency, reduced labor requirements, and minimized operational costs while promoting sustainable aquaculture practices. Furthermore, the system provided a more precise and timely feeding process, which contributed to improved fish growth and reduced feed losses. The findings demonstrated that low-cost automation modernizes traditional operations.enDevelopment of an arduino-based automatic fish feeding system for fishpondsThesis
