Lakasa ti Sirib, DMMMSU Institutional Repository.https://lakasa.dmmmsu.edu.ph/handle/123456789/1526This study was conducted at the Agroforestry nursery of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, North La Union Campus, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from November 18, 2008 to January 18, 2009. It aimed to evaluate the different combinations of soil media and to find out the best soil media combination on the growth behavior of mahogany seedlings.A total of ninety (90) seedlings were used. The study was laid out using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in three (3) replications. The different treatments were T₀ – Garden soil, T₁ – Sand, Loam, and Rice Hull, T₂ – Clay, Sand and Rice hull, T₃ – Clay, Loam and Rice Hull, T₄ – Clay, Loam, Sand and Rice HullAnalysis of variance was used to determine the best combination of soil media on the growth behavior of mahogany seedlings. DMRT was used for further test of significance. Results of the study revealed significant effects combining the different soil media on soil field capacity, permanent wilting point, and water holding capacity as well as amount of water applied. No significant effect of treatment was observed on the plant height, length and number of leaves, number of primary and secondary roots and length of primary roots.en-USEvaluation of different combinations of Soil media on Mahogany (Swietenia macriohylla king) seedlings growth behaviorThesis
