However: English speakers encounter many challenges in speaking the English language. In this manner, this study investigated the influence of Iloko as a mother tongue on the English pronunciation and accent of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language students at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Agoo La Union. Mixed-method design was used in this study. Respondents were interviewed one by one and a survey questionnaire was distributed to them via Google Forms. To interpret the data gathered, thematic analysis and median was used as the main tools. Salient findings of the study reveal that there are challenges in learning the English language which include speaking challenges; psychological challenges; and linguistic challenges. The influences of Iloko on English pronunciation and accent are psychological, utterance (physical), and environmental.
