It specifically aimed to determine the a.) profile of the respondent; b.) the profile of the slaughterhouse; c.)the extent of adoption; d.) the perceived effects on the air, water and soil environment; e.)the degree of seriousness on the problems met associated to the operation of the slaughterhouse. A total of 240 respondents were selected purposively from Bacnotan, San Juan, and City of San Fernando. A structured questionnaire and personal interview were used as instrument to gather data. Most of the respondents were on their middle age, married and high school graduates. They have lived in the barangay long enough and do not have permanent jobs. The internal respondents adopted very much the sanitation practices as stipulated in the code of sanitation while the external respondents perceived that the operation of the slaughterhouse gave a moderate effect to the air, water and soil quality.
